Act 1 - The scene starts with conner and Craig walking down Bromley high street, when Connor realizes that he has lost his phone, out of panic he wants to call home letting his mum know. They enter the phone box and try to make the call, although it does not work, so they leave. They leave and find they have moved and are in the Bromley library, they hole library shouts at them to be quite. They are very confused about what has happened and quickly leave through the cupboard that they came in.

Act 2 - A montage starts of all the places that Conner and Craig have been to, with the first being a toilet block. There is some music in the background to go with this along with some diegetic sound. The second place they go to is a girls bedroom, the girl's is name Emily. She is in her towel and very shocked to see the two boys come out of her wardrobe. Craig and Conner are happy to see a girl in just her towel, while Emily is not happy and confused. The pair do a high five and leave through the wardrobe, and are happy that the box is giving them some benefits.

The next part of the montage in them in a gym, with people lifting 80-kg, they feel very intimidated. As Conner and Craig do not have big muscles and do not want to make any of the workers unhappy they quickly leave through where they came from. They next arrive in a work office full of very shocked 9-5 workers, papers are thrown all over the room, as the pair have just came out of a small cupboard. The pair are happy that they are shocking people, and still seeking benefits. They once again leave through the way they came in, looking forward to the next place they are going. Next in the montage they appear in the back of a man car, the man is called Alex S. He is very confused and scared that two people are in the back of his car, Conner and Craig complement Alex on his car and leave laughing. As they leave shirts, boots and shorts are all thrown at the closing door, showing that the players are not happy. The final place of the montage is them at a classroom, where there is a mac and no teacher in the classroom. Craig feels they should use the opportunity to take the mac for free, while Conner knows it is wrong and they should just leave it.

Act 3 -   They have a small argument which escalates into a small fight about whether they should take the mac or not. The fight ends with Conner locking Craig into a small room, then leaving in the cupboard that they came in. He then feels bad that he locked his best friend, so returns to let him out. what is a opening sequence

What is an Opening Sequence?
Using your research to date, define what an opening sequence of a film is and looks like.

You should look at...

Structure
Presentation of titles
Order and importance of titles
Narrative structure
Genre codes
Conventions (& also unconventional)
Purpose

A opening sequence shows the beginning of the film and sometimes the personality of the characters, and Of course it includes the actors, directors and other members of the film crews name. The sequence also usually includes CGI to include the credits and other parts of the scene. the list of credits will go as follows.

1. name of studio e.g marvel, universal or disney.
2. name of production comedy
3. name of producer
4. staring..... (all the stars in the film) Justin, Timberlake, Scarlet Johansson or Brad Pitt.
5. film title e.g avengers assemble, inside man or the firm
6. all of the featuring actors
7. the casting crew
8. the music/composer
9. production design
10. editor
11. photographer
12. executive producer
13. if it is based on a book the name will be here
14. if it is based on any characters it will be here
15. story writer
16. writer
17. director

In a opening sequence of a film, the opening credits are shown at the very beginning and list the most important members of the production. They are now usually shown as text superimposed on a blank screen or static pictures, or sometimes on top of action in the show. There may or may not be accompanying music. Where opening credits are built into a separate sequence of their own, the correct term is title sequence (such as the familiar James Bond and Pink Panther title sequences).Opening credits since the early 1980s, if present at all, identify the major actors and crew, while the closing credits list an extensive cast and production crew. Historically, however, opening credits have been the only source of crew credits and, largely, the cast, although over time the tendency to repeat the cast, and perhaps add a few players, with their roles identified (as was not always the case in the opening credits), evolved. The ascendancy of television movies after 1964 and the increasingly short "shelf-life" of films in theaters has largely contributed to the credits convention which came with television programs from the beginning, of holding the vast majority of cast and crew information for display at the end of the show.
In movies and television, the title and opening credits may be preceded by a cold open, or teaser (brief scene), that helps to set the stage for the episode or film.

Production Company

 Production Company

Production Context

Do you create your own logo and make it a back to basics 'Indie' film?
My budget is very small so to will need to go back to 'back to basic', so we will not be able to use a big Hollywood budget. however this will suit the image of the film and sit well with the storyline, as this storyline is not the type you may see from a 'Hollywood studio' film.

Do you go with an existing independent studio?
An existing independent studio would be ideal for our film, as the people working for independent films are used to working with small budget, like ours. They would also know how to get the best out of a small budget and make the film successful. It would suit the style of a independent film well, as the storyline is not like those you may see from 'Hollywood studio' films, such as the avengers. The avengers uses explosions and high quality after effects, which are not available when shooting our film.

Do you try to make a blockbuster Hollywood style opening? Like Warner?
The budget of our film does not allow for a big budget Hollywood style opening. At our current limited budget the opening will have to follow some of the cheaper openings such as George Clooney's 'The American'. The American is a indie-like film made by subsidiary of a major studio. Our film has the potential - if picked up by Hollywood studio - to have a Hollywood style opening. The film is high concept and could work just as easily at a Hollywood studio with an increase in the size of the budget.

25 word pitch

25 word pitch

Two friends make a phone call, which changes their lives. Join conner and Craig on their magical adventure, which doesn't go to plan......

An ordinary phone box, takes two friends on an adventure around the world, with all explosions and fire included.

Two boys, one phone box and a world to be explored, their lives will never be the same again...... *explosions* *fire*

These are just a few idea's me and my group game up with for our 25 word pitch for our film. We do not feel these are up to the high standard that we have set our selves for our film. However we will use these idea's and develop them at a later stage of the film process.

films similar to ours

films similar to our film

Genre

-Back to the Future : In this film the boy finds a man with a time machine and they go back in time, but it goes wrong and they have to save the boys mum at the prom. The boy and the old man do save the mum from the prom and bring life back to normal. we can take some of the story line which is a heroic act to save the world and the partnership of the man and the boy.

-Chronicle : about three friends who all live a average life, which is shown in the opening. the boys then get powers out of this world like flying and strength. they start to use the powers to their strengths but after a argument one of them loses control and uses the powers for evil and goes on a rampage. it ends up with one friend killing another friend and they all fall out with each other. We can take the aspect of the friends falling out over their powers, which can be used to our characters of the two friends.

-Back to the Future 2 : Is the same sort of movie as the first except a man gets hold of the machine and uses it to get rich. the old man and the boy then go back in time to stop the man from getting rich and bring normal day life, normal. We can use the aspect of the two friends using a power for fascination, then when goes wrong to save the world.

Opening Structure

-Captain America : The opening sequence of captain america uses CGI through out and the same heroic like music throughout also. It shows who captain America is and what he has done through history, which shows the viewer what he is. we can use this in our own film by showing who the characters are and what they are doing in our opening sequence. We can also use CGI to add in the credits at the start, although not to the quantity that captain america uses.

-The Avengers : The avengers also uses CGI through out and shows what the avengers are and where the location is. It shows who the avengers are and how big they are in the world, showing their importance. CGI is used to create a spaceship and a huge world made around the avengers, also showing the importance of the avengers. We can also use this aspect of showing where the location is shown in the opening sequence and shows who the characters are.

influences - camera/shots/look/feel

-Rubicon : Rubicon uses CGI to create the opening scene, with a yellow line linking up every scene. the line flows through virtual news papers, bar codes, letters, pictures of private planes and is all black and white with the only colour being the yellow line. There is slow violin in the back ground, this shows that it is a detective film and gives a small tension to the start of the film.

moodboard

moodboard

In my moodbourd there are films which inspired me to come up with the idea which is linked to time travel. I have included films like De Ja Vu, back to the future 1,2 and 3, the time machine, time cop, click, bill and Ted magical adventure, planet of the apes and well knows TV shows futurama and doctor who. I have also included some football players from millwall as i was watching millwall whilst the idea came to me for time travel.

doctor who : Doctor who has the same basic concept, going into a door and coming out in another place. We are also using a phone box as the starting point of our adventure, although the adventure is deferent to what Doctor who show.

back to the future : Back to the future also uses a similar basic concept, from entering a door in one place and leaving in a different location. it also uses the same concept of the machine being broken and they are trying to get back to home.

bill and ted magical adventure : bill and ted uses comedy which we aim to use in our film and also uses a time machine which we will also use.
